Cornwall Community Museum & Archives
Owned and operated by the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Historical Society
The Cornwall Community Museum and Archives is owned and operated by the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Historical Society. Representing one of the earliest settlements in the province of Ontario, we are devoted to preserving, protecting, and sharing all aspects of the Cornwall and United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry’s history and heritage. We manage a vast collection of artifacts, many of which are on display here at the Cornwall Community Museum, located within the historic Wood House in Lamoureux Park, Cornwall.
Our exhibits are generally organized by theme – e.g., the founding of Cornwall and SDG, local productions, industry, commerce, textiles, community service, health care, etc. Furthermore, we manage an elaborate archive of historic documents, books, and photographs available for research purposes.
As a community museum, an important aspect of our mandate is to engage the public and to ensure that we are serving the community to the best of our ability. We always look forward to welcoming visitors and researchers from the Cornwall, Akwesasne, and SDG area and beyond!
