The Cornwall Canal

Museum Blog - May 2016

Did you know that Cornwall had a canal? It was completed in 1842 and serviced Cornwall industries until 1958. It was built to circumvent the Long Sault rapids. When the seaway was built the canal was no longer needed, and in 1971 work started on filling it in. Visit our museum for interesting pictures and History of the canal and take one of our walking tours to view remnants of the canal and dry docks!
