Established in 1920, the SDG Historical Society is a members-based community organization that advocates for the responsible preservation of local history and heritage. As part of our mandate, we have amassed a significantly large collection of historic artifacts and records that includes photographs, maps, documents, and materials about local individuals, families, businesses, congregations, community organizations, and associations that contributed to the rich history of Cornwall and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.

Since 1956 the SDG Historical Society has owned and operated the Cornwall Community Museum (formerly the United Counties Museum) located in a heritage building known as the Wood House. We host and participate in local events that are designed to inform and educate the public on history and heritage related matters as well as collaborate with our municipal government on the responsible preservation of historic artifacts.
